This should've been done sooner
I really wanted to do a Christmas Eve blog, and post a fave story of mine - The Night Before Christmas of course - but I didn't end up coming online, so alas I must wait til next year. Sorry folks. I also wanted to come online and blog on Christmas night and Boxing night and last night, but I've been too lazy. I guess that is what the silly season does to you!
Well, Christmas is over which means I am super sad. I am just too much of a Christmas nut that I hate it when Christmas is all over...sometimes I think that I would prefer Christmas to just never come, becaue I think it is the preparations for Christmas that I like the best. Of course they are all for the actual day so I should love Christmas Day, which I do, but...ok enough confusion. It's like all other big days in the like of me - birthday, Christmas, dancing concert day. I wait all friggin' year for them and then they are over before I know it.
Anyways! Twas a great day, and days leading up to it of course also. I had to work til 9pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before Christmas which was pretty annoying, but it didn't turn out that bad. So dead we all should've not even bothered. Friday night we went home at 8:10pm! I could not get over it. It has never ever been so dead that I've been able to leave work early. Oh except for that Sunday trading day on the 11th which was even more of a waste of time and I went home 4 hours early at 1pm instead of 5pm. I am so glad WA does not have the insane hours that every other state in Australia seems to have! Imagine working in my cafe til midnight. That is just madness...and not just because we'd have zero customers! lol!
Kyle came home briefly on Christmas Eve but then disappeared again to go to Ash's for a big dinner. I watched Carols By Candlelight and Sleepless in Seattle (oh such a classic, I had forgotten how much I love that movie).
For once I did not get up at the cack of dawn on Christmas mornign which was a disappointment for everyone it seems as they were all surprised I wasn't up at 6am creeping into the loungeroom for my sack. Still, I am still very much the kid when it comes to Christmas and I'm not embarrassed to admit it. Christmas is more fun like that. I can still stare at the tree for hours on end and be totally enchanted and I can still get excited at the thought of ripping off wrapping paper!
Nanna, Grandad, Aunty Rhonda and Juanita came over at about 11:30am but we didn't get to eat lunch til like 2pm haha but it was still delish! Turkey, ham, pork, pudding, all my faves. Like Elle I love my tradition and if we don't have the same things and do the same things I feel out of place and like it's not really Christmas so I am glad we did everything as normal. In all my other areas of life I long for change cos it makes life less boring, but with Christmas - no way!
I got some gorgeous gifts, the best of all being a huge door sized poster of Lucinda Dunn (for all those not in the dance loop - Lucinda Dunn is a principal dancer at the Australian Ballet). Mum and Dad got it from Bloch Southgate when they went to Melbourne in September and they kept it from me all this time! They nearly forgot to give it to me, and I ended up getting it hours after I had opened all my other stuff and it wasn't even wrapped - just in a postpak tube to keep it nice. I haven't put it up yet - but it will go on my door, replacing my massive Looking For Alibrandi poster which will go in the games room - I am going to get it laminated first so that it can stay gorgeous forever and ever. No oily blu tack marks are going to get on my Lucinda poster!
I also got The Castle on dvd, the Home Alone box set, the John Farnham Australian songbook cd (yes, I'm a Farnsy fan), The 2005 Spirit of Christmas cd, pyjamas, plenty of chocolate and assorted other bad food, 2 $50 Karrinyup vouchers, a $60 Karrinyup voucher, a $25 Dymocks voucher nd plenty more. I was spoilt as always. I was so super eager to spend my vouchers and the money I got for Christmas so I went shopping as asoon as possible, which was yesterday. But more on that later.
Boxing Day dawned bright but I did not see the morning as I was in the land of sleep. I missed out on going to Aunty Kay and Uncle Ray's but nevermind. How could I have allowed Dad to take Aunty Kay such a huge chunk of our Christmas pudding anyway? It's lucky I asn't there or else I wouldn't have let her have it! Haha! That pudding is a once a year treat...we cannot just give it away! Huynh came over just after 2pm and we decided to go to the beach. Ate lots of crap (including delicacies from a Mr Whippy van that we by chance passed!) and walked along the beach (far too cold to go in! Damn this retarded not even summer weather we are having!). I at last got some colour on my skin which is a reason to rejoice.
Anyways, M+D were having the usual suspects over for a casual bbq that afternoon and so by the time we got back some people had already arrived. It was nice to see them all, I love big friends gatherings - we do not have enough of them honestly (cos my parents are such bores). A lot more people ended up coming than I thought. Kath was first, followed by Betty. Aw I love Betty, she is super! I was saying to Huynh that Betty is the only person in the world my Mum will listen to. Even if the rest of the world is telling Mum to do something she won't, but if Betty 9who for those who are confused, is my Mum's best friend from highschool) says it ("Now Sandra, don't say that about your Mum" for example) Mum will immediately consider changing her ways. Thank God for Betty.
Anyways, Betty was staying the night. We offered to let her sleep under the Christmas tree, but she gracefully said no :oP Anyways, Claire, Jared, Denise, Rod, Sue, David, Jill and Mike also ended up showing. Twas nice to see Jared - I have not seen him since Les Mis and since the big announcement thing.
Huynh stayed, I told her she was more than welcome - it was so sad that she spent Christmas without her fam - they are all in Vietnam, so I told her she must stay at our place for Boxing Day. So we watched Spicks and Specks the Christmas special and Love Actually...just to make us feel all Christmasy and not let the spirit die. Oh we had a merry time cooing at all the cute bits in Love Actually ('To Me You Are Perfect' AWWWWWWWWWWW 'I think we need Kate and Leo' AWWWWW 'And you've made a fool out of me' AWW ok stop now Larissa)
Anyways, next day my day to hit the shops! :o) I wrestled the Rav from Mum's clutches and drove myself to Karrinyup and actually got a park in the carpark. I was so shocked at how packed it was...I haven't been to the Christmas sales for so many years now I must've forgotten. But damn it was packed! Like cars parked on the verges of houses in the streets in the SURROUNDING SUBURBS.
I got so many bargains - hurray! A Volcom top ($45 - ok that one wasn't a bargain, it was a splurge), a Cotton On black top ($10), a pair of grey and blue tailored shorts from JayJays ($20), a pair of black tailored shorts which you would never know are from Big W ($15), a Billabong wallet ($20 - I was so sick of my gay Rusty one falling apart - word of warning DON'T BUY RUSTY WALLETS! They break after 2 days), the Little Fish soundtrack ($25), a double cd compilation called 'Broken Dreams' ($30 - sounds depressing I know, but so many good songs on there!), a Rusty bikini ($40 only because the chick at City Beach charged me for only one piece! It was actually $40 for the top and $40 for the bottoms and she only charged me $40! Score! Can you believe they were marked down from $60 each though? Mother of God I would never ever have paid so much!) and 2 books - true crime of course, I just love reading true crime.
So in the end I didn't spend much of my own money, as I had all these vouchers. And Nanna gave me $50 and Aunty Rhonda $20. And then Grandma gave me $30. Mum reminded me to remember what I bought with what so I could say thankyou :oP
Today it was back to work, boringness! It was Mum's birtdhay today too and she was shocked at my gift (Mission accomplished!). She was astounded when I bought her that Romantic Comedy dvd box set for Christmas, saying I shouldn't have spent so much money, and I was sitting beside her thinking 'Wait til you see the $105 Maurice Meade gift voucher you're getting for your birthday!' lol! She almost growled at me for spending so much! But I like to give. And I knew it was a good pressie.
And now it is my turn to wish a Merry Christmas to all my buddies. I know it's late (refer back again to the title of this entry, lol!) but never mind. Merry Christmas to all my BH sisters - Jackie, Rosanna, Steffles, Elle, Bec, Sophie and Mads - I love all our chats and excited forum convo's! Thankyou for suffering obsessive Blue Heelers compulsive this year ;o) Jackie - I am so thrilled you loved my card, it's great to hear it made you smile and still does! Elly - you're so gorgeous you know I love ya! Steffy - I know your Christmas wasn't the best at first, but you got through it like you always do princess. Rosanna - you have cracked me up this year and do you realise we only starting chatting a few months ago! Scary! But you're a legend and I love your blogs and the secrets you know!
I have so much more to write about from before Christmas - like that's how far behind I am (see I told you not to be worried about not blogging Jackie! Look at me!) but I will do that another time to save everyone's sanity! Well done to anyone who has even gotten this far!
Au Revoir!
